Four severely burned victims from the tragic club fire in Kotsani, North Macedonia, will be transferred to Athens on Tuesday evening (18.03.2025). A military aircraft, which took off from the Eleusis military airport, is en route to North Macedonia, which is mourning 59 lives lost in the massive fire that broke out Sunday night at a club in Kotsani. Doctors and EKAB rescuers are traveling to North Macedonia to assist in transporting four patients who will be treated at the 401 and 251 hospitals in Athens. This marks the second air transfer following Monday’s operation, during which three other victims were brought to Greece and are currently being treated at the 401 hospital. With this evening’s airlift, requested by North Macedonia through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, a total of 12 victims have been brought to Greece for treatment. Additionally, three burn victims are being treated at the General Hospital of Thessaloniki ‘Georgios Papanikolaou,’ while two others are at the 424 General Military Training Hospital in Thessaloniki. As stated by the director of the Burns Unit at Papanikolaou, plastic surgeon Sophia Papadopoulou, medical teams are working tirelessly to provide care.
