On Friday morning, March 14th, popular singer Nikos Vertis appeared at the courthouse in Thessaloniki as part of a legal dispute with his close friend and former collaborator, Niko Polatidis. The singer is defending himself against allegations of perjury, with the court’s decision expected shortly after his testimony. Journalist Polyxeni Karamicha, speaking on the ‘Buongiorno’ show, highlighted the numerous legal battles between Vertis and his former financial manager. These two men were childhood friends and tight collaborators, with Vertis entrusting Polatidis to manage several of his companies. However, over time, various economic disputes arose, leading to extensive legal conflicts. ‘There are mutual accusations; they have exceeded 30 lawsuits,’ Karamicha added during an interview on Mega TV following the last trial where Polatidis accused Vertis of perjury. During the Christmas season of 2024, Vertis had remarked reflectively: ‘If you don’t suffer, you don’t learn. It’s never just one person’s fault.’ He expressed a desire to move past this case and focus on his professional duties.
