On Saturday (05.04.2025), during MEGA’s broadcast of “You Haven’t Seen Anything Yet,” a member discussed why the request by the Central Archaeological Council (KAS) was rejected for the renowned director Yorgos Lanthimos to shoot scenes of his new film at the Acropolis. Michael Tiberios, a KAS member and president of the Academy of Athens, explained the reasons for the denial on MEGA: “Lanthimos is a major figure in both cinema and Greece, so his proposal greatly challenged us at KAS. Filling the Parthenon with bodies doesn’t align with what the Parthenon represents.” He added: “However, since it’s Lanthimos, we proposed alternative solutions such as Filopappou Hill, around the Acropolis, or Areopagitou Street. To place the bodies there while having the Acropolis as a backdrop, which unfortunately wasn’t accepted by Lanthimos’ team.” Poet Nikos Moraitis also weighed in on the matter, stating: “Some come as critics to judge the script of a great creator, Yorgos Lanthimos.”
