A Memorandum of Understanding for Strategic Cooperation between Attica and China’s Jiangsu Province was signed on Tuesday (June 23, 2025) in Athens by the Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, and the Secretary-General of the local government of Jiangsu, Xin Changxing. The signing ceremony took place at the Regional Administration of Attica in the presence of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Greece, Fang Qiu, and focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, culture, tourism, and sports. This marks the second such agreement signed by Governor Hardalias with a major Chinese economic hub, following an earlier agreement with Shanghai in January. Key areas of cooperation include business and trade, scientific and technological innovation, cultural exchange, tourism promotion, athletic collaboration, and sustainable development policies. Both parties expressed enthusiasm for strengthening ties through mutual respect and shared historical roots. Further details were discussed during the upcoming June 24 conference on Innovation and Industrial Cooperation hosted by the National Technical University of Athens and Jiangsu’s Research Institute of Advanced Technology.
