Nikos Androulakis: No Bargaining on Constitutional Reform

In an interview with the ‘Koinonia Ora Mega’ show on Monday, March 10, Nikos Androulakis, President of PASOK-Movement for Change, criticized the government’s response to the recent tragedy in Tempi. He stated that New Democracy has not addressed any issues adequately and highlighted the Prime Minister’s inflexibility. Regarding the constitutional review, Androulakis emphasized that they are not engaging in negotiations on matters critical for the country’s progress. He pointed out the government’s decline and accused the Prime Minister of attempting to shift blame onto opposition leaders concerning illegal alterations at the disaster site. Furthermore, he questioned why political leaders visiting the tragedy scene would make them responsible for subsequent cover-ups. Androulakis reiterated the necessity of addressing justice leadership selection and ministerial accountability reforms, initiatives he originally proposed. On revising Article 16, he insisted that discussions should occur during the second revisionary Parliament session and refused to give a blank check to New Democracy for its formulation. Concluding, he argued that only PASOK can defeat New Democracy due to its comprehensive governance program and progressive vision.
