PA.SO.K. President Nikos Androulakis attended a special tribute performance honouring the life and work of legendary Greek singer Antonis Kalogiannis at Athens’ Pallas Theatre. The event celebrated Kalogiannis’ enduring artistic legacy — from his politically charged songs performed in exile during the Greek military junta, to his iconic collaborations with Mikis Theodorakis, and his interpretations of poetry by major Greek writers including Giorgos Seferis, Kostas Karyotakis, Yiannis Ritsos, Nikos Gatsos, Manos Eleftheriou, and Dimitris Christodoulou.

A Voice of an Era

In a social media post following the evening, Androulakis described the performance as “a unique journey through the memory and work of Antonis Kalogiannis.” He highlighted Kalogiannis’ profound contribution to both political and love song traditions, noting how his deep, evocative voice gave expression to an entire generation’s struggle for freedom and democracy.

Androulakis shared photos from the event, including moments with members of Kalogiannis’ family, and emphasized that the artist’s musical imprint remains vivid and influential — continuing to inspire new generations and resonate with contemporary ideals and visions.

Tribute to a Unique Artist

Concluding his message, Androulakis extended warm congratulations to all performers and creators involved in the tribute, calling it “a unique musical evening — dedicated to the artistic legacy and memory of a truly singular artist.”
