In a recent interview with Nancy Zambetoglou and Thanasis Anagnostopoulos on ERT’s Studio 4, legendary footballer Nikos Anastopoulos opened up about his personal life, particularly why he never got married. “I can’t say that all the women who have been in my life were not good or right for me,” Anastopoulos said. “They just couldn’t handle the pressure I had as a footballer and later as a public figure.” He continued, “If only we could turn back time with the mindset I have now. As people grow, so do their decisions mature. The choices I made then might have turned out better if made today. But I don’t regret anything, professionally or personally.” Anastopoulos revealed that he consciously chose not to marry due to circumstances. “All these relationships in my life were long-term,” he added. He emphasized the importance of privacy in personal matters, stating, “Not all the women who passed through my life were anything but correct and good. They simply couldn’t endure the pressure I faced. It was my mistake, and I take full responsibility. If I were married, I would have more money. But I don’t regret it, nor do I regret anything in my life,” concluded Anastopoulos.
