Nikitas Kaklamanis Responds to Zoï Konstantopoulou: The Triantopoulos Case Judge Selection Set for Monday

in

Parliament President Nikitas Kaklamanis responded to accusations made by Zoï Konstantopoulou regarding the delay in selecting judges for the Triantopoulos case. Addressing concerns about potential government interference in choosing favorable judges, Kaklamanis stated that on April 24, he sent a letter to the Ministry of Justice requesting the list of eligible supreme court judges for the random selection process. This list was received by Parliament on April 30, 2025. He clarified that the delay in conducting the lottery is not due to the unavailability of the list but because it has not been scheduled after Easter recess. A meeting of the Presidents’ Conference, where the scheduling would be announced, is set for tomorrow, and the lottery will take place next Monday at noon. Kaklamanis emphasized that the full list of eligible judges has been provided. Regarding allegations by Konstantopoulou concerning the briefing session with journalists, where her statements were recorded without her consent, Kaklamanis accepted responsibility, noting that both the head of the Press Office and his assistant involved have offered their resignations, which he declined to accept. Additionally, addressing claims about metadata discrepancies in digital files, Kaklamanis explained that while file transfer dates are automatically recorded, detailed inspection reveals creation and modification dates.
