Just months after the completion of the full renovation and upgrade of the “Peukonas” playground on Analipseos Street in Nikaia, unknown individuals dismantled and stole the swings, leaving behind only the metal supports! According to an announcement by the Municipality of Nikaia: “This is not just vandalism but theft from a children’s playground, which constitutes public property. It deprives local children of one of their most beloved and essential daily games.” The Municipality of Nikaia – Ag. I. Rentis immediately reported the incident to the authorities, and replacement procedures have already begun. Mayor Konstantinos Maragkakis of Nikaia-Ag. I. Rentis stated: “The playground on Analipseos Street was renovated at the end of March with care, love, and respect for the children and parents of the area. It is infuriating and heartbreaking to see swings being removed from a public play area. We will not tolerate such behavior. We continue with determination to care for our neighborhoods and call on all citizens to help protect spaces that belong to all of us, especially our children.” The municipality reminds everyone that any act of destruction or theft of public infrastructure has legal consequences and urges citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report similar incidents.
