Nighttime Bombardments in Iran and Israel Escalate as Trump Threatens New ‘Bomb’: Possible US Involvement

The intense conflict between Iran and Israel continues at an unrelenting pace, with both countries launching attacks during the night of Saturday (June 21). Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has added new tension to the diplomatic thriller by stating that the U.S. might get involved in the war before the deadline expires. The two-week deadline given to Tehran on Thursday was described by Trump as the ‘maximum limit,’ clarifying that a decision regarding potential U.S. military involvement alongside Israel could come before it ends. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump downplayed European diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the crisis after talks between Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and his European counterparts in Geneva. According to Trump, ‘Iran does not want to talk to Europe. They want to talk to us. Europe cannot help with this issue.’ On Thursday, Trump announced he would give himself two weeks to decide about possible U.S. military involvement with Israel, emphasizing substantial negotiation prospects with Tehran. However, when asked if Iran had requested U.S. mediation with Israel to stop attacks, Trump noted it’s ‘very difficult at this stage’ for Israel to comply. Recent developments include Israeli strikes targeting key Iranian figures and installations, including the new head of Iran’s drone unit and reports of targeted assassinations in Qom. Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif expressed skepticism about trusting Washington following recent Israeli offensives, accusing them of betraying diplomacy. He emphasized Iran’s right to self-defense and its commitment to maintaining its nuclear program despite external pressures.
