A serious attempted rape case has emerged in Zacharo, a village in the western Greek region of Elis. A 46-year-old woman filed a complaint against her husband — with whom she is currently separated — alleging he tried to sexually assault her inside their shared home.
Alleged Assault During Shower
According to her statement, the incident occurred while she was showering. The 52-year-old man entered the bathroom, pulled aside the shower curtain, and touched her genitals without her consent. Shocked and frightened, she tried to pull away and explicitly told him not to touch her again.
She claims he ignored her, attempted the same act two more times, and began threatening her life. Local outlet Patris News reported that the couple’s two minor children were present in the house at the time — and allegedly heard the threats.
Fear and Escape
In her panic, the woman tried to defend herself by spraying him with the shower water. He briefly left the bathroom to change clothes, but returned minutes later and continued his threats, keeping her in a state of terror for about 20 minutes.
Fearing for her own safety — and that of her children — she fled the house and sought refuge with a friend. She then contacted the police.
Arrest and Investigation
Officers from the Zacharo Police Station arrested the 52-year-old suspect. He is currently detained at the Elis Police Directorate and is expected to appear before the local prosecutor today.
