New Zealand: 3 of the 7 victims of the Islamist attack are in critical condition

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden said a total of seven people were injured in an Islamist extremist attack on customers at a mall in Auckland on Friday, three of whom were in critical condition.

Ms. Ardern gave more details about the perpetrator of the attack, a supporter of the jihadist organization Islamic State (IS), clarifying that his name could not be made public due to a court order.

The center-left prime minister said yesterday that the perpetrator, who was shot dead by police within minutes of the knife attack, was from Sri Lanka, had lived in New Zealand for a decade, and was known to “many security services” who they “watched” him closely for five years.
