New US Airstrikes Target Houthi-Controlled Areas in Yemen

On March 19, 2025, new airstrikes were launched against the capital Sanaa and other regions controlled by the Houthis in Yemen. Anis al Asbahi, a representative of the Houthi-controlled Ministry of Health, reported on the X platform (formerly Twitter) that nine civilians were injured due to a U.S. attack in the Al Thaurah neighborhood of Yemen’s capital. Three residents of Sanaa told Reuters news agency that the Al Jaraf neighborhood, located near the airport, was also hit. The pro-Houthi television network Al Masirah reported that the strikes also targeted the Hudaydah port as well as the provinces of Al Bayda, Saada, and Al Jawf. Earlier today, the Houthis announced they had launched an attack — their fourth in 72 hours — against the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman in the Red Sea. Dismissing threats from former U.S. President Donald Trump about facing ‘punishment,’ the Houthis have warned of new attacks against Israel and vessels serving Israeli interests in the Red Sea, in retaliation for the resumption of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
