The distribution network manager, DEDDHE, is evolving its operational model with an eye on benefits for itself and consumers. A competition is already underway to select a consultant to map out the new energy landscape and identify the most promising areas in need of change. As DEDDHE states, the current environment presents several challenges and opportunities arising from electrification, increased penetration of renewable energy sources, electromobility, infrastructure aging, climate change, human resource needs, consumer electricity cost requirements, and pressure from regulatory authorities. In this context, DEDDHE has defined its vision and strategy, with operational excellence as a key pillar for improving investment and network work performance (e.g., CapEx investment capability, cost reduction), network quality, and customer experience. Through redesigning its operational model, DEDDHE aims to improve its performance in terms of cost, time, and quality to achieve company goals such as implementing an investment program exceeding €600 million annually, including over 1000 km of underground network, accelerating renewable energy connections, and executing significant project categories (Net Zero, RRF program). The effort also focuses on improving network quality and customer satisfaction while increasing operational efficiency and optimizing CapEx/costs to maximize economic impact for DEDDHE shareholders and overall network performance. Initially targeting specific value chain segments like network design and studies, DEDDHE plans to extend its competitive and design efforts across the entire value chain, transforming field operations and aligning with international best practices.
