New Fraud Allegations Against Car Yard Owner: ‘I Gave Him €9,000 — Authorities Knew His Name’

Four years have passed since the first major exposé of a car yard owner who defrauded hundreds of car buyers — people who believed they had purchased vehicles, only to discover the cars never existed. A new criminal complaint has been filed against the same businessman just days ago, revealing he continued his fraudulent activities undeterred — with no apparent intervention from authorities.

The Same Scheme, Repeated

His modus operandi remains unchanged from the 2022 case: posing as a legitimate car dealer, he targeted prospective buyers online and in person, persuading them to pay large advance deposits — often amounting to thousands of euros. Yet none received the vehicles they thought they’d bought, losing substantial sums in the process.

One victim told Live News: “He urged me to sell my own car. He promised to deliver the Renault Clio I wanted within four or five working days. Meanwhile, I’m terminally ill — in the final stage of cancer — and I sold my car, handed him €9,000, and am still waiting for that vehicle.”

Victims Say Police Were Aware

Another complainant said: “I went to the police, and they told me it wasn’t worth pursuing. In fact, before I even filed anything, they already knew his name.”

The list of victims keeps growing. According to Live News, his alleged fraud began as early as 2018 at a car yard in Chalkida, where 25 people jointly filed a criminal complaint — resulting in his conviction. In 2022, after Live News’ investigation exposed his operations, a total of 71 complaints were lodged against him for embezzlement and forming a criminal organization. At that time, he was operating a yard in Peristeri.

In the following year, another 18 victims filed a fresh joint complaint — this time naming not only him but also his alleged associates.

A Pattern Across Locations

In 2024, he opened a new yard in Nea Erythrea, collected advance payments for cars he never delivered, closed it down — and then reopened in Peristeri, repeating the same pattern. As of today — June 24, 2026 — he has returned to Chalkida, the city where his alleged fraud spree began. Yet the latest complaint confirms he’s still carrying out the same scams.
