Another femicide has sparked outrage and grief in Italy. According to initial investigation results, Salvatore Ocone allegedly fatally attacked his 48-year-old wife, Elisa Polcino, by hitting her in the head with a rock. The couple, who had three children together, lived near Benevento in southern Italy. After hours of searching, a carabinieri helicopter located Ocone, 58, over 100 kilometers from their hometown. Inside the vehicle, authorities found the couple’s 16-year-old son dead; his older sister, one year his senior, sustained serious injuries. Their eldest brother, an adult, no longer lived at home. Salvatore Ocone is currently being questioned by police. Neighbors told Italian media they had never noticed any tensions within the family, adding only that the man had recently suffered from depression. The family tragedy has deeply shocked residents across the Benevento region in Campania. The couple was due to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary at their local Catholic parish on October 19.
