New donation of books to the Municipal Library.

A new, great and ιδάιτερα a significant donation to the public Library of Crete, arrived in the previous days in the Municipality of Malevizi and accepted by the City Council, at its meeting last Friday.
It’s about 530 titles of important books that he donated to the Municipal Library of mr. George I. Giannakakis, a resident of Athens, with origins from the Kato Asites, who had the initiative of organ donation. Mr C. Giannakakis, Commander e.a Navy, because of the great love for books and reading, has created a massive and very valuable personal library, which since I was a kid enriches it with a great deal of trouble and expenditure. A lover of history and of Greek culture generally, has thousands of books that are a real treasure of knowledge and information.
It is noteworthy that the donated to the Municipal Library books are only a small part of the planned by the tsp. Giannakaki donation, which as he indicates, it intends to complete with a multiple number of books, when returning to Crete.
The City Council of Crete, after the relevant information and the recommendation, unanimously approved the donation of books from mr. George Giannakaki, expressing warm thanks to the donor.
The Mayor Kostas Μαμουλάκης in a statement, stressed: “our Municipal Library, the most recent structure and culture of our Municipality, continues to grow with particularly significant donations, and this is most encouraging. I express my heartfelt thanks to mr. George Giannakaki for the initiative and I am sure that his example will be followed by others of our fellow citizens, thus giving the opportunity to the residents and guests of Crete, to come closer to the book, to love reading and knowledge”.
