Under the central slogan ‘Together for Greece 2030’, the 16th Regular Congress of New Democracy—the main centre-right political party in Greece—has opened at the Metropolitan Expo in Athens. The event marks a pivotal moment for the party, aiming to re-unify its ranks after a period of internal reflection and consolidation.
Congress Kicks Off Amid Electoral Readiness
The opening session was formally declared by Theodoros Roussopoulos, head of the Organizing Committee. At 7:25 p.m., Prime Minister and party leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis is scheduled to deliver his keynote address. In it, he is expected to place the party on electoral standby and issue a broad call for unity across New Democracy’s base—amid ongoing public and political debate over when the next general elections will be held.
Delegates Gather at Metropolitan Expo
Doors opened early at the Metropolitan Expo to allow delegates to collect their credentials. By 5:30 p.m., registration desks were already fully operational. Senior party figures, Members of Parliament, and government ministers began arriving gradually throughout the afternoon.
