A new cover-up scheme is emerging following the reversal by Christos Papadimitriou, President of the Hellenic Railway Safety Regulatory Authority (EDOASAAAP), who has now questioned the findings he himself authored regarding the tragic Tempi train disaster. SYRIZA officials argue that the government is attempting to rewrite the narrative by dismissing evidence of flammable materials at the crash site and reverting to the original claim that the fire was caused by silicone oils from the train. This move appears aimed at removing the cover-up allegations centered around the commercial train transporting flammable substances. Yesterday, Papadimitriou, previously hailed by Akis Skertsos as a source akin to scripture, declared that references to the fire should not have been included in the report. Simultaneously, an investigation by the Areios Pagos court was ordered into the causes of the blaze. Socrates Famellos, President of SYRIZA, criticized the situation, stating: ‘The veil of concealment over the Tempi crime continues to expand. From where the government once had its gospel in the EODASAAP report, it now does the opposite—challenging it with the continued involvement of judicial leadership.’ He emphasized that truth and justice are secondary to covering responsibilities for both the crime and its subsequent concealment. Parliamentarian Nikos Pappas questioned whether there was a deliberate effort by the Mitsotakis government to create confusion, highlighting discrepancies between Gandi’s statements and EODASAAP’s findings. Meanwhile, George Karameros accused the current administration of manipulating witnesses and critics while shielding the accused. The New Left’s press release condemned these actions, accusing the government of systematic cover-ups and undermining the rule of law.
