New clinical study. The electronic cigarette reduces the health damage from smoking to levels similar with the full stop

New clinical study showed that electronic cigarettes may lead to a significant reduction of exposure to harmful chemicals found in regular cigarettes. This in turn helps to reduce the risk of developing diseases associated with tobacco and it is believed that…
caused by conventional smoking. Smokers who switch from smoking to the electronic cigarette, in fact, may have results quite similar to stop smoking.
The researchers measured the changes in 15 biomarkers of exposure to harmful and potentially harmful constituents (HPHCs). According to the FDA, these are directly related to risks of developing diseases because of smoking, such as tobacco and, in particular, nitrosamines, carbon monoxide and aldehydes during expiration, the blood and the urine. These items and others were examined in a sample of 105 adult smokers during a five-day test test.
Dr. Grant o’connell, who participated in the survey, said that the participants were divided into three groups. The first group abstained from tobacco and vaping completely. The second group was using only electronic cigarettes, and the third a combination of vaping and smoking. “It is encouraging that, in eight of the nine urinary biomarkers that we studied, the reductions in the levels of HPHCs to those who have made exclusive use of the electronic cigarette was virtually indistinguishable compared with those smokers who have stopped smoking completely during the same time. The obvious exception was nicotine,” said o’connell.
The study, published in the Journal of Toxicology Mechanisms and Methods, revealed that in the blood of smokers who stopped smoking and the users of the electronic cigarette was observed over 75% reduction in the levels of carbon monoxide. In addition, both groups had over 80% reduction in the levels of volatile organic compounds, such as 1-3 butadiene, benzene and acrolein.
The levels νιτροζαμίνης, also, was observed a reduction of approximately 62% with 93% in the group of the electronic cigarette and 66% to 98% in the group who quit smoking. In addition, in the third group who smoked regular cigarettes and used e , the researchers noticed a reduction in the exposure to HPHCs was in general proportional to the reduction in the number of cigarettes καπνίζονταν”.
