A new provocative move has emerged as Libya and Turkey have signed an agreement to conduct seismic surveys in four marine areas. Specifically, the National Oil Corporation of Libya signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with its Turkish counterpart, which plans geological and geophysical studies in four maritime zones. This agreement follows discussions between both parties in Istanbul. According to the statement from Libya’s National Oil Corporation, there are plans to carry out seismic surveys under the project executed by the Turkish organization. “Discussions were also held regarding the implementation of two-dimensional seismic surveys (spanning 10,000 kilometers) and the processing of data derived from these surveys within a timeframe not exceeding nine months,” the Libyan state oil company announced.
