At the forefront of the campaign to boost public revenue, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is focusing on collecting overdue debts. This year, AADE is set to develop a new Collection Strategy for 2025-2029, with implementation starting next year. The strategy emphasizes increasing revenue through direct and effective debt management. Under this process, AADE will gather all taxpayer data, continuously inform debtors about their obligations, and take action where non-compliance is detected. Measures will vary based on debtor profiles and debt age, ensuring tailored approaches. Predictive models will be developed to prevent violations, and the debt registry will be cleaned up. For 2025, AADE aims to collect over €3 billion in old overdue debts and at least €700 million from major debtors. Additionally, approximately €10 billion may be classified as uncollectible. Priority will be given to the most collectible overdue tax debts, with mandatory collection measures applied when necessary. The out-of-court settlement mechanism will also play a significant role, aiming to process at least 90% of restructuring requests. Large debtors will undergo regular reviews, with a minimum of 70% scrutiny within the year. Finally, customs services will be integrated into the EISPRAXIS electronic system.
