Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was unequivocal in his statements today (02.07.2025) regarding the ongoing military operations against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Just hours after former U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled a final ceasefire proposal between Israel and Hamas, Netanyahu made it clear that his goal remains the complete eradication of the Palestinian extremist Islamist organization.
“There will be no Hamas. There will be no Hamastan. We won’t go back to that. It’s over,” Netanyahu declared firmly.
On the other side, Hamas announced that it is reviewing the new ceasefire proposals put forward by Donald Trump, aiming at ending the war in Gaza and ensuring the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the enclave. According to an official statement, Hamas has received the terms through mediators and is currently examining them.
It’s worth recalling that the U.S. president assured on Tuesday (01.07.2025) that the Israeli government had “accepted” the necessary conditions to finalize a two-month ceasefire agreement with Hamas.
“Israel has agreed to the essential terms needed to finalize a 60-day ceasefire, during which we will work with all parties to end the war,” Trump stated via Truth Social following what he described as a “productive” meeting between American and Israeli officials in Washington.
Trump simultaneously urged Hamas to accept the “final” offer, adding: “I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas accepts this deal, because the situation won’t get better—it will get worse.” The last five words were typed in all caps, a common stylistic choice by Trump for emphasis.
No formal response from Hamas has been issued so far.
