Neschan Moulazim, whose family resides in Turkey, spoke today (22.03.2025) on the show “You Haven’t Seen Anything Yet” about the tense situation prevailing in Istanbul following the arrest of Ecrem Imamoglu, the mayor of Istanbul. Turkey is walking a tightrope amid crackdowns against opposition figures. Thousands of citizens gather daily in front of the Istanbul Municipality showing support for Ecrem Imamoglu after his arrest by authorities under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Moulazim shared that she learns things from her family living there. Yesterday, during a protest in Turkey, her elderly parents attended. She expressed concerns over speaking freely due to fears for her family’s safety. ‘If I didn’t fear for my family, I would speak more openly,’ she said. ‘I’m not afraid for myself but for my family. Today, I learned from my mother that even posting tweets against the government could result in a travel ban to Turkey.’
