Nea Peramos: Two Family Crimes – 1999 Uncle Murder Echoes 2026 Killing

The family of the 27-year-old entrepreneur found brutally murdered in Nea Peramos after a kidnapping remains deeply traumatized. This marks the second horrific crime they have endured: in 1999, the victim’s uncle—29-year-old Giorgos Vrontakis—was stabbed to death in his bedroom during a meticulously staged home invasion. His wife falsely claimed three intruders committed the murder and bound her, while their 9-year-old son freed her and alerted police. Investigators later uncovered irrefutable evidence proving she orchestrated the killing with her Albanian lover, a construction worker on their property. She served 5.5 years in Korydallos Women’s Prison; her children were raised by their grandmother in Aspropyrgos. In 2005, she was conditionally released but re-imprisoned in 2006 after a civil court ordered her to pay €500,000 in damages for psychological harm to her late husband’s family.
