Nea Ionía: 20-Year-Old Breaks In, Hides in Wardrobe, Pulls Knife

An astonishing burglary occurred in Nea Ionía at midday when a 20-year-old woman entered a residence to steal jewelry while the owners were home. The incident took place on Saturday, January 31, 2026. She entered the bedroom through an unlocked door and began searching drawers for cash and valuables. When the homeowners realized a break-in was underway, she hid inside the room’s wardrobe—but it was too late. Attempting to resist arrest, she brandished a knife and threatened the occupants. Police from the DIAS unit responded immediately, apprehended her on-site, and escorted her directly to the Nea Ionía Criminal Investigations Department. Authorities seized the knife and confirmed—through investigation—that she had prior involvement with law enforcement for similar offenses. She has since been referred to the competent Public Prosecutor.
