New Democracy is intensifying its political campaign and rebuilding momentum ahead of the 2027 national elections. Ahead of its 16th Ordinary Congress (May 15–17), the party launched its pre-congress dialogue today in Ioannina, with Prime Minister and ND President Kyriakos Mitsotakis in attendance. The event focuses on social policy—education, health, labor, and social cohesion—with similar thematic dialogues scheduled across Greece over the next three months to showcase the government’s reform agenda. Under the slogan ‘Greece in 2026 is not Greece in 2019,’ Mitsotakis aims to win back voters who shifted to undecided pools or right-wing parties—and extend into centrist territory. While reaffirming his commitment to a single-party majority government, Mitsotakis has left the door open to coalition talks post-election, stressing constitutional obligations: ‘If no majority emerges, the largest party must explore government formation.’ Recent ALCO polling (for Alpha TV) shows ND at 22.5–24% in vote intention (27.5–28.5% normalized), far below the 38.5% threshold for majority. PASOK trails at 10.5%, Greek Solution at 9.4%, and Freedom Stream rises to 7.9%—the only party gaining ground.
