In reference to ‘unlikely scenarios’ and ‘terrible implications’ regarding the government’s management during the Tempi tragedy, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke today (05.03.25) from the podium of Parliament. Addressing the president of Greek Solution, he stated: ‘You told us that we hid bodies, that there was a ghost wagon that disappeared.’ In response to Mitsotakis, Kyriakos Velopoulos emphasized: ‘What I said is that we do not know how many victims there were. But has the prime minister ever boarded a train? Never in his life! The prime minister uses a private state-owned Falcon aircraft—not my words, but according to OSE unionists. They don’t know how many people were inside the train.’ Commenting on Velopoulos’s statements, ND highlighted that ‘Mr. Velopoulos’s memory is weak’ and referenced video clips of his remarks from March 2023. ‘Since Mr. Velopoulos challenged today from the parliamentary podium that over the past two years he referred to hundreds of deaths, missing wagons, and various other lies, we present some of the fake news he spread about the Tempi disaster, as it seems his memory is weak despite his boundless audacity,’ the announcement noted. ‘What did the commercial freight transport carry? Why did they rush to pour cement and asphalt in the area? How many victims and missing persons are there finally? This is justice. Everything else is evasion…’, Velopoulos can be heard saying in the video.
