In response to criticism from the opposition and widespread social media commentary questioning the cost of the new price-comparison platform PosoKanei, New Democracy’s Fake News Observatory has issued a formal clarification. The Observatory stated that inaccurate claims about the platform’s development costs began circulating immediately after its launch, adding: “The figures being cited bear no relation to reality.”

Project Funding and Scope

The posoKanei.gov.gr initiative was developed under the broader ‘CRMS – Unified Platform for Citizens and Businesses’ project led by the Ministry of Digital Governance, in collaboration with the Ministry of Development and the Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC), Greece’s market oversight authority.

According to the Observatory’s statement, the project is funded through Greece’s Recovery Fund — ‘Greece 2.0’ — and carries a maximum budget of €370,000 (excluding VAT). This amount covers not only the development of the web platform but also the creation of the mobile application, as well as 15 months of technical support and maintenance.
