NATO: Mark Rute and Donald Trump meeting with background to the escalation of war in Ukraine

Under the background of yesterday’s (21.11.2024) Russian ballistic missile attack against Ukraine, his chief is visiting his home in Florida to discuss the future of the Alliance. Information sources of the Dutch newspaper “De Telegraaf” reported today (22.11.2024) that Mark Rute traveled to the US to meet with newly elected President Donald Trump, with the agenda possibly including NATO strategy. Rute made the trip to the US on a Dutch government plane, according to the paper, as NATO chief does not have a personal aircraft, the North Atlantic Alliance often hires planes from its member countries. According to specialized websites, the Dutch government plane landed in Florida. Both the Dutch government and NATO did not respond immediately to a request to comment. Former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rute is widely considered one of the EU leaders who had done better, compared to others, in communicating with Trump during the latter’s first term as president of the United States. NATO Summit on the new Russian ballistic missile NATO and Ukraine will meet on Tuesday (26.11.2024) in Brussels to talk about launching the new Oreshnik-type ultrasonic ballistic missile from Russia against Dnipro city as they said earlier today (22.11.2024) diplomatic sources. This meeting, which will be held at the request of Kiev, will be held at ambassador level. Russia used against Ukrainian territory the mid-range ballistic missile (i.e. up to 5,500 km) of the Oreshnik type, which can bring a nuclear warhead. The development of this type of weapons “will neither change the course of the conflict nor the determination of NATO allies to support Ukraine,” stressed Farah Dahlah, a representative of the North Atlantic Alliance. “Russia launched an experimental mid-range ballistic missile against Ukraine. It is a new example of Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian cities. Russia seeks to terrorize the civilian population in Ukraine and intimidate those who support the country,” she explained.
