National Pay Survey of public opinion of Metron Analysis for Greek general confederation of labour

The forces of labor and entrepreneurship require emphatically
the strengthening of the institution of Collective Bargaining…
61% of Greek citizens deem necessary, the strengthening of Free Collective Bargaining in all sectors of employment and the structure of the real economy, according to the results of National Pay Research carried out by the Metron Analysis on behalf of the general confederation of Greek workers in the field of the labour market.
The Telephone Survey was conducted on a weighted sample (gender, age, votes in the last parliamentary elections) 1.205 persons aged 18 and over.
The strengthening of the institution of Collective Labour Agreements is recorded as a wide majority opinion in all sub-categories depending on the ideological αυτοτοποθέτηση of the respondents in the political spectrum or the party sign their vote in the last National Election (September 2015). At the same time, is becoming a common place, belief, and request regardless of age, gender, level of education, social stratification, professional activity or position in employment.
It is worth noting that the highest percentage of positive opinion (65%) is detected at the ages of 18 to 34 years old, the population group, namely, that when a presumption is faced with acute problems of unemployment, underemployment and ετεροαπασχόλησης, forced flight abroad (braindrain), social and professional marginalisation.
It is extremely important, encouraging and hopeful that, despite the policy measures of the Programmes of Fiscal Adjustment and the consequent long-winded rhetoric linking the integration of young people into employment, with the deregulation of the labour market, the youth perceives the workplace of the future, the professional development and advancement only through a strong framework of Collective Labour Agreements. Our young people envision opportunities, and not casual employment as cheap and without rights mechanism for the substitution of employees.
51% of respondents indicate lack of knowledge or weakness of adequate valuation of the impact of the circumvention of Collective Bargaining in work and professional life. The knowledge, however, is power and awareness constitute the “raw material” of a factual assertion. In this direction, the GSEE calls on all citizens to address either in the operational and sectoral associations of the area, the Labour Centres of the regions and the Federations of their industry, either in the INE/GSEE and the specialized Information Network, Information and Counselling in order to gain a detailed picture or to submit any query related to the labour market or the access to it.
The Collective Labour Agreements do not constitute a “corporate privilege” or “fetish” of some small elite, but a universal development, productive and social requirement for the whole of the creative forces of the Place.
The fundamental this –fixed and timeless– position of the Greek general confederation of labour is confirmed by all the qualitative and quantitative findings of yet another research winning, among other things, continuously ground to the unemployed, freelancers, and entrepreneurship. Let’s rate it at last, and the representatives of the Industrialists, who have become zealots of an “industrial jungle”, which affects proven and the interests of those they represent.
