Ioanna Papakosta, a high school student from Larissa, achieved one of the highest scores nationwide in Greece’s National Exams—scoring 19,780 points and securing top placement. Her outstanding result has earned her admission to medical school, a long-held ambition.

A Reward for Persistence

In an interview with onlarissa, Papakosta described the intense preparation period as exhausting—but ultimately worthwhile. “I expected to do well, but I didn’t anticipate this score,” she said. “Our school prepared us thoroughly, and I’m truly grateful for that.”

Preparation Built Over Years

She emphasized that success in the National Exams is not the product of a single academic year, but rather the culmination of years of disciplined study and consistent effort. Reflecting on her daily routine during the months-long exam preparation, she noted: “Systematic studying definitely helps—but Saturdays are for stepping away, going out, and spending time with friends.”

Medicine Was Always the Goal

Choosing medicine wasn’t a last-minute decision. Papakosta says she knew from a very young age that she wanted to become a doctor. What remains undecided is where she’ll begin her studies this autumn—Athens or Thessaloniki.
