Today, Saturday (April 26, 2025), according to the church calendar, we celebrate the memory of Saint Glafyra. The names celebrated today include Glafyros, Glafýra, Glafyrí, and Glafyroúla. Saint Glafyra was a servant of Empress Constantia, wife of Emperor Licinius. The empress distanced Glafyra from Licinius’s romantic inclinations by providing her with substantial wealth. Saint Glafyra traveled to the East, visiting many places before settling in Amaseia. There, she presented her wealth to Bishop Basil for the construction of a church and lived peacefully until her death. Additionally, today marks World Intellectual Property Day.
