The summer cruise season kicked off early in Mykonos, as the luxurious cruise ship MS Hamburg from Plantours Kreuzfahrten docked on March 14, 2025. Known as the island of winds, Mykonos welcomed approximately 260 passengers, mostly German tourists, according to Mykonoslive.tv. Until November 2025, about 900 cruise arrivals with nearly 1.5 million passengers are expected, compared to 768 arrivals and 1.29 million passengers in 2024. Officials claim that this year’s arrivals will further boost the local economy while providing a smoother experience for visitors without overburdening residents or other tourists thanks to an improved berth allocation system. This increase is partly due to Santorini being temporarily removed from itineraries for the early season due to seismic instability concerns.
