New details have emerged about a narcotics trafficking ring operating on the island of Mykonos, including its distribution of so-called ‘pink cocaine’ — a variant reportedly adulterated with synthetic stimulants or dyes. These revelations stem from intercepted conversations recently made public by Greek broadcaster SKAI, offering a disturbing glimpse into the group’s operations, internal jargon, and escalating brutality.
Violent Rhetoric and Mexican Cartel Aspirations
According to the recordings, members of the ring discussed coercion, physical assaults, and even fantasized about replicating the violent enforcement tactics associated with Mexican drug cartels. In one chilling exchange, a suspected ringleader — identified in reports as a Turkish national — suggested launching coordinated attacks against law enforcement: ‘Let’s blow up two vans full of people… beat them with sticks… and shove pink calls into their mouths — all of them.’ Another member responded, ‘Yeah, man — now we need to go full Mexico.’ The leader added, ‘Let’s hire Mexicans… masked, ruthless… so they can do the dirty work,’ before emphasizing that victims would need to be carried away on stretchers.
A Sophisticated Distribution Network
The group allegedly built an extensive local network for distributing narcotics across Mykonos. During a major police operation, nine individuals were arrested in connection with the ring. A 22-year-old was separately detained for personal possession of drugs. Authorities seized significant quantities of controlled substances, including cocaine, ‘pink cocaine’, MDMA (ecstasy), cannabis, and over €80,000 in cash — along with a firearm.
Coded Language and Branding
To evade detection, members used elaborate codewords for different substances. ‘Pink cocaine’ was referred to as ‘lahmacun’, ‘pink garnish’, ‘colored’, or ‘secret recipe’. Cocaine itself was dubbed ‘eggs’, ‘girls’, ‘people’, or ‘babies’; raw cannabis was called ‘Jenny’; and MDMA went by ‘the lady’. In another recorded conversation, a distributor complained to the alleged boss that a client had criticized the quality of the ‘pink cocaine’: ‘A customer told me it was total shit.’ The boss replied dismissively, speculating that moisture might have degraded the product — prompting the distributor to wonder aloud whether reheating it could fix the issue.
The Alleged Leader’s Expanding Empire
The suspected ringleader — described as a Turkish national — operated a transfer company with a fleet of seven vehicles and owned real estate in Athens and Turkey. He also leased a 250-square-meter parking facility in central Athens and was reportedly seeking to expand further, including acquiring commercial space inside an industrial zone — possibly to consolidate logistics under one roof.
