Revealing a brazen drug trafficking operation based on the island of Mykonos, newsit.gr has published transcripts of intercepted phone calls that helped dismantle a criminal network posing as a tourist transportation company.
Drugs Hidden in Plain Sight
Five suspects were arrested and found in possession of nearly two kilograms of cocaine, 750 grams of pink cocaine, 750 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), large quantities of pills, and cannabis. The group sold narcotics not only across Mykonos but also in Attica.
They used a company van—officially registered for tourist transfers—to move drugs around the island. Drivers doubling as couriers transported packages under the cover of legitimate business operations.
‘There Are Cops Here Now, Idiots’
In one recorded conversation, the alleged second-in-command of the ring speaks with a driver-courier who reports police have set up a checkpoint at Mykonos port:
Courier: ‘Hey, come on.’
Deputy Leader: ‘You told me not to call you — then you disappeared. I’m like, “What happened?”’
Courier: ‘No, I had clients — and now another ferry’s arriving… then another one after that.’
Deputy Leader: ‘Okay.’
Courier: ‘There are cops here now — idiots, seriously.’
Deputy Leader: ‘Yeah?’
Courier: ‘Yeah, yeah. They’re setting it up down there.’
Deputy Leader: ‘Down there?’
Selling Ecstasy Under Euphemisms
In another call, a customer requests ecstasy. The courier responds using coded language — referring to a contact as “the kid” and describing him as having “rock” (slang for high-purity MDMA):
Customer: ‘Hey.’
Courier: ‘I’ll send you a number — it’s mine. But this guy has rock, got it? We work with the kid.’
Customer: ‘Uh… I don’t know about rocks or whatever. He wants “exta.”’
Courier: ‘“Extas”? Six?’
Customer: ‘Ecstasy.’
Courier: ‘Ecstasy? Yes, we’ve got it.’
Deliveries to ‘The Idiot’
A third call shows the deputy leader instructing the courier to make a delivery in the Ano Mera area — referring to the recipient dismissively as “the idiot” or “the fool”:
Courier: ‘Hey.’
Deputy Leader: ‘Hey. Where are you?’
Courier: ‘At home.’
Deputy Leader: ‘Can you go to Ano Mera — to the idiot?’
Courier: ‘Ano Mera? To the idiot? Okay, I’ll get dressed — I’m going.’
Deputy Leader: ‘I’ll tell him to send his location — then I’ll forward it to you. Don’t hand anything over unless he pays first.’
Courier: ‘So — to the fool? To the fool?’
Deputy Leader: ‘Yes, to the fool. If he says “bring it and I’ll take it later,” don’t believe him.’
Courier: ‘Alright, okay — ha ha ha.’
Expanding Into Sex Work
In yet another intercepted exchange, the deputy leader informs the courier that customers are now demanding both drugs and women — suggesting the group was exploring further criminal diversification.
