A fire broke out on Friday, June 19, 2026, aboard a Greek-flagged sailing yacht while it was docking at the new Mykonos port marina. No injuries were reported.
Coast Guard personnel responded immediately to the scene and observed smoke emanating from inside the vessel. Crew members from nearby boats assisted in the firefighting effort — boarding the yacht and using portable fire extinguishers to contain the blaze.
All eight passengers aboard the vessel — Polish nationals — disembarked safely onto land. After the fire was extinguished, the yacht was towed by a support vessel to the marina’s quay, where it was secured without further incident.
A team from the Mykonos Airport Fire Service conducted an on-site inspection and confirmed that no active fire sources remained. Only minor material damage was recorded.
The Mykonos Port Authority is conducting a preliminary investigation into the cause of the incident. The yacht’s departure has been prohibited until it obtains a seaworthiness certificate from the authorized marine surveyor. There was no marine pollution, nor was the safety of adjacent vessels compromised.
