Mutant and Καρκινοφυτοφάρμακα

Writes Kostas Χαρτζουλάκης
The “secret” negotiations for the Transatlantic Trade…
and Investment Partnership (TTIP, Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) have closed the 130 round with the support of Merkel and Obama. Apart from the environment, social and labour rights and “δημοκρατκά acquired”.E., will suffer significantly and the rural and, by extension, the food sector. Through the TTIP is being promoted an industrial model of agriculture and food that it reduces the specifications for food safety, public health and the environment. I removed one of the basic principles of.E. for the protection of consumers and of the environment, the precautionary principle, opening the way to the mutant, the wide use of pesticides and the production of products with hormones, growth stimulants and antibiotics.
The introduction of strict rules on the rights (property) in the seeds and the plant material will threaten the local rural communities (local varieties of plants, animals, etc.) and small-scale agriculture, which is an important factor in the economic life of our country. In addition, the rules on intellectual property will adversely affect the quality labels as well as the registered agricultural products and geographical indication (PDO, PGI), such as oils, cheeses, wines, mastic, etc., that constitute the dynamic response to globalisation. These products are elements of our cultural identity and heritage, and cannot be sacrificed.
Already over 4 million Europeans have signed against the agreement and have expressed their opposition on the progress of the negotiations, the French president Fr. Hollande and Austrian chancellor B. Had weird hair. What do we do? Because there is no information and public dialogue? I’ll say a ‘no’ the government and the Parliament in any agreement that endangers the Greek agriculture?
It is a matter of national interest and moral obligation.
