A new investigation has been ordered against a 20-year-old man who was present with the 25-year-old suspect at the Asyrmato Park in Agios Dimitrios—the scene of the April 2026 murder of a 27-year-old man, son of an Hellenic Police brigadier general. The Athens Three-Member Misdemeanors Court decided to refer the trial records to the Athens First Instance Public Prosecutor’s Office to examine whether the young man committed the offense of simple complicity in intentional homicide.
Acquittal on Harboring Charge
The court acquitted, by majority vote (2–1), all three defendants—including the 20-year-old and two young women who were with him—of the charge of harboring a criminal. The acquittal relates to allegations that they concealed or assisted the main suspect after the crime.
Public Tension Following Verdict
After the verdict was announced, tensions flared in the courtroom. The victim’s family verbally confronted the two young women sitting in the defendants’ dock.
Perpetrator Remains in Custody
The 25-year-old perpetrator has been in pre-trial detention since last April. The prosecution had previously recommended investigating the fourth suspect for complicity—a recommendation the court endorsed by referring the case to the prosecutor’s office for further action.
