The family of the 41-year-old man found dead in a vineyard in Rafina on Thursday afternoon (22/05/2025) is in shock. Speaking to newsit.gr, the victim’s brother highlighted that the killer was known to the victim and described the moment his sister-in-law informed him. “What can I say now? I’m in a terrible state. His last words were when he called his wife and told her, ‘Someone hit me in the head with a weapon; come find me using the phone signal.’ My brother was in the field where they found him today,” he recounted. He added, “Yesterday, we had searched near where the phone was found but didn’t go far enough. The assailant shot him in the leg with a firearm. The perpetrator was a friend of my brother, everyone knew him. Recently, they had stopped hanging out, but there were no conflicts between them; we couldn’t imagine something like this happening.” Regarding the victim’s wife, the brother noted she quickly alerted them to the situation. “When we went to the location, we found the phone and called the police. Afterward, while searching around where the phone was located, my brother was found about 500 meters further up a hill in a vineyard. Upon closer inspection, we saw him below. The killer is known to authorities and has a criminal history. My brother is currently undergoing a forensic examination, and he leaves behind a 13-year-old daughter.
