Municipality of Glyfada: “we Fill in the empty school bags”

Union of Associations of Parents of Glyfada and the Commercial Club, Glyfada with the participation of dozens of volunteers.
The placing offer and the solidarity demonstrated by individuals, clubs, organizations and businesses were moving. Total gathered 500 school bags filled with notebooks, glue, compasses and other geometrical instruments, pencils, pens, pencil cases and many more school supplies – all brand new and in excellent condition – will be given to the students of the schools of the city who are in need, through the Union of Associations of Parents of Glyfada.
The collection of school supplies took place last week at the Old town Hall of Glyfada and in all the events organized by the Municipality in the framework of the Festival of Glyfada 2016.
The Mayor of Glyfada Georgios Papanikolaou thanked the Union of Associations of Parents of Glyfada and the Commercial Club of Glyfada for the fruitful and constructive cooperation, and the hundreds of citizens who have contributed to this initiative. In particular, he congratulated the volunteers of the associations of parents who have actively supported this effort and all of the actors and businessmen, who responded to this initiative.
“The response to the call that we asked for support the most vulnerable of our fellow citizens was really great,” said the deputy Mayor of Education and Social work, Natasha came true. “All students must begin the school year with the same conditions and the same opportunities and the Municipality of Glyfada we make every effort to achieve this, and to embrace all the children of our city. We warmly thank the Association of Parents ‘ Associations and the Trade Association for the excellent cooperation and all those who support this difficult task,” he said.
The President of the Union of Associations of Parents, Maria Καραβουσάλη, thanked all the ordinary citizens, businesses and all stakeholders for their immediate response to this important action. Also thank from the heart the Mayor Giorgos Papanikolaou, who embraced this action, the Municipal Authority as well as the Brand Association that “in four years we did this action institution in our city”. “A big thank you and a well done to all the volunteers, parents of our Associations for the mood and the kind help of them all these days. All together we managed to give smiles to 500 children, as well as relief to many families of our city. The Union of Associations of Parents promises that it will be always there for the students and their families,” stressed mrs. Καραβουσάλη.
“The Γλυφαδιώτες demonstrated what it means practical solidarity, our businesses what is corporate social responsibility, and parents from the Union of Associations of Parents of what it means selfless offer and volunteering,” said the President of the Commercial Association, Annie Καυκά. “Thank you very much, together with the Municipality of Glyfada on our side and the Mayor of helper, we managed to fill 500 school bags”.
