The text is symbolically signed by 870 executives and members of SYRIZA from all over the country and every region of the territory, which stand alongside Stephen Kasselakis. In the multi-page text – their intervention, they point out, among others, that “specific executives and groups within our party”, “in a loving partnership with party bureaucracy they have been gnawing at both President Stefanos Kasselakis and the very project of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, for which we have fought a huge struggle since 2012”. “We, the members of SYRIZA-PS ● We who have seen our wishes and decisions for a large party of the ruling Left that will include society, will continue to be postponed ● We who have struggled all these years for the great changes in our party which have never been completed on the altar of compromises with mechanisms of aspirations of phrases and persons. ● We who voted and support President Stefanos Kasslakis as the new hope for the major changes in both our party and our country. ● We who believe that the vision of the Modern Left and the Great Progressive Democratic Extension can and must be done through SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance can no longer stay with strained hands and groups within our party that in unfavorable cooperation with the party bureaucracy rocking with both President S. Stefanos Kasselakis and SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance itself, for which we have fought enormously since 2012. We can no longer tolerate the systematic circumvention of collective decisions by the organizational leadership (as recently decided by the JV on the timing and composition of the KOS) which aim to brake (if not sabotage) democratic developments and changes in the party, against the moods of the vast majority of its members and friends. The attempt to reduce and devalue the party, the President and executives with huge battles against the neoliberal policies of the Mitsotakis Government, which has been attempted in recent years by circles – unfortunately – within SYRIZA-PS, finds against it the tens of thousands of now indignant members of the party. It is time for our party to turn a page and return to the right track, with a restart point at the October conference. There we are called to lay the foundations for – A party that the top of the party pyramid will lower to be near the base. – A party open to society where the basis will be heard on all issues. – A party without bureaucracy consisting of executives taken out of the social fabric. Which executive and member will have the same rights and walk hand in hand working within society to succeed in winning the power correlations. – A party of the Governing Left, strong that will express all Progressive Democratic citizens. – A party that will hold up its Left, Progressive identity by truly and honestly defending the interests of many. – A party that will draw ideas for its strategic design through fermentations with members and society. Who will be there to express the needs without losing his targeting that is none other than the dignity of citizens. – A party with consistency and uniformity. With real political unity and not unity for unity. A party that will end up in a political position and follow a political line that stands on two axes: fighting neoliberal policies and being able to propose realistic solutions that will favour society. – A party that will redefine its relations with the structures of society such as public administration, trade union movement and local government. – A party of the Patriotic Left that respects international treaties and fights for the national independence and sovereign rights of our country. From now on we should inspire and convince to become attractive again to the society that is groaning, we must understand in a way to describe exactly what the poorest, the excluded and the usual layers/victims (such as the middle) of this place can expect from us. We have to make it clear to the many that if tomorrow they trust us with the country’s steering wheel and their fates, they should know from now on…: • If workers’ income is enough for a better life. If they have collective agreements and labour rights. • If our country’s “honored old age” will be able to have decent living and not cut pensions. • If patients find satisfactory and free health care. • If scientists will be paid decently in the public and the labour market. • If the students of high school will also have with us the suffering of the nationwide and if their parents will be obliged to the tutorials and especially, at the expense of the quality of life of the entire family, but also at the expense of the good of parenthood itself. • If small and medium-sized enterprises have their chance to finance banks. • If there will be an end to the folly of the banks, the theft of popular property, the red loans, in contrast to scandalous charisma and favoritism in the elites, government officials and their friends, the paid “credits” of the media (e.g. First Issue) and any kind of fraud. • If we use the great potential of the region and the farmers on which we must rely for productive reconstruction. • If immigrants here as labour and agricultural hands, they will ensure survival, education and the right to naturalization of their children. • If Justice will be provided quickly and effectively and does not “touch” corrupt elites, while it will “bitten” the barefoot. • If public goods, energy, water etc. will remain public and affordable for everyone. • If people of culture manage to create free with dignity and security. On all this, and even more so, we should work so as to develop a realistic and fully understood governance program so that the SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance can return to the Government and give breath to all these social strata strangled by the harsh neoliberal policy of the Mitsotakis Government. A program that will restore to the People the right to happiness that has been deprived for decades. This party we’re all gonna make comes from afar and looks to the future. Will it be confrontational? Yeah. Because it’s history. The history of the Left in the field, in the workplace, in the street, in parliament. A party that respects the historical memory of those who fought and gave their lives for democracy. Standing shield and wavebreaker in front of executives, members and friends who will fight the battle. To follow many more battles and many victories until the final. So we members of SYRIZA-PS decide to take the party into our hands by calling on the tens of thousands of members to thicken the lines of our movement. A “Member Movement” without patrons away from party barons. A movement, which even now, at the last moment, should be actively trusted by the leadership, make it a vanguard of the project and bridge its distance from the party’s organized base so that it does not remain north and easy prey to the moods of the party establishment and its insinuators! A movement really of members!”.
