Mourning in Crete for 33-Year-Old Yannis Who Died in the Atlantic Ocean

The Mesara region is in deep mourning following the death of 33-year-old Yannis Roussanidis from Kokkino Pyrgo, Tympaki, who lost his life while fishing in the Atlantic Ocean off the US coast. A professional fisherman working abroad for years, Yannis perished during a violent storm that struck his vessel—carrying seven crew members total—leaving no survivors. Rescue teams struggled against treacherous sea conditions, and hopes of finding survivors were minimal. His family has asked the public to remember him with a prayer, emphasizing his pride in his Greek heritage and deep love for his homeland.
