MotoGP: Waiting for the “green light” for the match in Valencia

The unspeakable tragedy in Valencia with the dozens dead from the flood, may also affect the last race of the year in . In front of human losses talking about a motor sport race, it is futile. However, such a tragedy affects much, as in this case a MotoGP race. We recall that a similar disaster in 2023, with fewer – fortunately then – human losses, in Italy, canceled Emilia Romagna’s Grand Prix, while the entire Formula 1 mechanism on the track, supported local authorities in their effort. And while the next three days (1-3 November) we will have in Malaysia the pre-last match, in Valencia the finale of the season is scheduled. On the Ricardo Tormo track is to be hosted, as traditionally happens, the last race of the year, November 15-17, while the program also has the day of testing after the season, November 19. However, it’s all a matter of time at the moment, as the whole state and local mechanism has given – and it makes sense – its attention to the restoration of damage to the city and the outskirts of Valencia, and will lastly try to restore any damage that exists on the track. MotoGP officials announced that the track has not been damaged by flooding and is currently being used as a flood-affected relief center. However, there is extensive damage to the exterior of the facility, especially the access to the track. The assessment of the situation by local authorities who would like Valencia to remain in the public eye but this time for another event with a positive impact, which will bring people to the city, is expected to give the “green light” for the MotoGP race. In addition, on the same track, Formula E’s 4–7 November trials are scheduled to take place in view of the new championship starting in São Paulo, Brazil on 7 December 2024 and ending after 16 games in London, on 27 July.
