Mother of Deceased Child Accuses Caregiver: ‘Human Interference in My Child’s Death’

A 24-year-old caregiver is now under suspicion for the death of young Panagiotakis, which occurred last August in Amaliada. Initially, the forensic report by Dr. Andreas Gkotsis indicated that the child had died due to pathological causes. However, the Homicide Division now considers Eirini Mourjoukou a suspect in the child’s death, either through intent or negligence. Speaking exclusively to newsit.gr, Panagiotakis’ mother, Popi, expressed that she was not surprised by the allegations against the caregiver. She emphasized her quest for justice and truth for the five children who passed away under Mourjoukou’s care. Popi stated, “We have known for about three days that Eirini is considered a suspect in my child’s death. We expected it. The night before he passed, my child was with her and two friends at our home. I wasn’t there. One of these individuals has filed a statement with the Homicide Division accusing Eirini. My child was perfectly healthy. There must have been human interference in his death. Now, we wait for answers. It’s heartbreaking; five innocent children never got the chance to live. I’ve asked Eirini repeatedly what happened to my child, but she denies any wrongdoing. Whatever the truth is, it will come out soon. Justice must be served for these children.”
