With the primary aim of reducing the so-called ‘gap’ and increasing state revenues by limiting tax evasion, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is implementing new changes to basic daily procedures. AADE’s director, George Pitsilis, announced some initiatives. By the end of 2022, we had a compliance rate of 13.7%. The goal is to reduce it to 9% by the end of 2027. To achieve this, Mr. Pitsilis emphasized that there will be a change in the process of submitting VAT declarations, implemented in three phases. The first phase begins immediately on April 1st. Newly established businesses and professionals starting their careers will enter the monthly VAT submission process for the first time. Previously, this was a quarterly obligation but will now last for two years. During the second phase, those who began their profession from January 2024 will also be required to submit monthly declarations. Finally, by October 2025, the process will shift to optional inclusion for professionals who wish to participate. Additionally, Mr. Pitsilis mentioned other critical measures, such as mandatory digital delivery receipts, with an extended timeline. Simultaneously, the implementation of the so-called digital customer book begins, initially in the automotive sector.
