Molotov Attacks and Chaos in Exarchia: 11 Cars Burned, 72 Arrests

A violent clash erupted in the early hours of Saturday night (April 12, 2025) in Exarchia, Athens, when a group of unknown individuals attacked police forces with stones and Molotov cocktails. The incidents occurred near the AT Kallidromiou in Exarchia. A group of approximately 50 unidentified people, leaving a gathering that took place on Strephi Hill, assaulted police forces using Molotov bombs and rocks. In response, law enforcement utilized extensive chemical agents and flashbang grenades to disperse the youths. For about an hour, according to ERT, the area resembled a battlefield as the unknown individuals set up roadblocks on Kallidromiou Street and surrounding alleys, leading to street battles with police forces. Eleven cars and one motorcycle were torched during the chaos, fires broke out in a ground-floor apartment and a store, and dozens of trash bins were burned. The police made 72 arrests. Once again, local residents witnessed their vehicles being destroyed by flames, with one car fire spreading to damage the exterior of a nearby apartment.
