Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis held a telephone conversation with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During their discussion, they reviewed recent developments ahead of the European Council’s emergency summit in Brussels on Thursday, March 6th. The Prime Minister informed Zelenskyy about Greece’s positions going into the European Council meeting and reiterated the EU’s commitment to a fair and lasting peace in Ukraine. He emphasized that this requires significant reinforcement of the EU and Ukraine’s defense capabilities, as well as American support. Earlier, a government spokesperson addressed the upcoming summit and whether Greece supports a military presence in Ukraine, stating that Greece advocates for a just solution involving all parties, including Ukraine, with the U.S. playing a key security role.
