On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis held a meeting with citizens in Western Macedonia. During the session, Mitsotakis emphasized that the conspiracy of paranoia and turpitude concerning the Tempi tragedy has collapsed. He highlighted that Greece is now stronger, with citizens actively participating in economic progress. Reiterating his commitment, he mentioned upcoming announcements regarding the Thessaloniki International Fair. Speaking about the Tempi tragedy, Mitsotakis noted that the conspiracy theories have been debunked. Addressing the audience, he praised their presence as the best response to a period of great tension and toxicity, which he hopes will gradually come to an end. ‘We are in a very dangerous area with many crises occurring simultaneously,’ said Mitsotakis. ‘As a country, we cannot afford another internal divide or return to times we wish to leave behind.’ He reminded everyone of the dark anniversary of the tragic referendum when banks were closed, nearly leading Greece out of the eurozone and possibly the European Union. ‘Greece’s opinion matters today,’ he stated, emphasizing the nation’s strength through robust armed forces and improving economy. Looking ahead, Mitsotakis concluded by promising announcements at the next Thessaloniki International Fair for 2026. Notably, he expressed pride in the rapid development of Thessaloniki’s western suburbs, despite previous infrastructure deficits.
