In his weekly review, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted several key initiatives aimed at improving the nation’s infrastructure, public health, and economic stability. Among the top priorities is the enhancement of train safety and quality across the country, an issue that has gained significant attention following past incidents. The government is accelerating interventions outlined in a recent bill presented at the Ministerial Council, which focuses on upgrading railway security mechanisms and establishing unified oversight for the entire rail network.

Additionally, Mitsotakis announced increased resources for firefighting efforts as Greece enters its annual wildfire season. This year, the fire service will have access to more firefighters, volunteers, and aerial resources than ever before. The prime minister emphasized the importance of citizen cooperation in preventing wildfires, urging residents to clear their properties by the extended deadline of June 15.

On the healthcare front, the government continues to prioritize preventive measures with the introduction of a national program offering free medical screenings. Citizens identified with severe obesity during these screenings will now receive complimentary consultations with endocrinologists and medication. Furthermore, the Personal Doctor initiative has expanded, registering over 5,500 doctors and aiming to provide pediatric services to half a million children.

Economically, the government plans to return surplus funds to society through monthly rent refunds and annual cash assistance for low-income individuals. These measures aim to bolster societal progress while maintaining fiscal stability.
